GET YOUR TICKETS TODAY! HOLIDAY HISTORIC HOMES TOUR IN FAIRMONT

11/20/2013

The Marion County Historical Society, Inc. will be having the 20th Annual Historical House Tour on November 30th This popular event was awarded the Event of the Year for 2012  by the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Marion County. There are nine sites on the self-guided tour this year with three new exciting places.

Pitney Morgan House to be featured on the tour for the first time!
The Pitney-Morgan home was built in 1840 in the Greek Revival style.  It is believed to be the last original Morgan home standing in the Monongahela Valley.  It has taken the owner eleven years to restore this home back to the Colonial period with matching furnishings.  This is the site of David Morgan homestead where he saved his children.  A mural depicting this scene is in the Marion County Court House.   Because of distance of the home, there will be a one time bus trip to the home for an additional $7.00 for those who have expressed an interest.  The money must be paid by 11/26/2013.  The bus will be leaving from in front of the Museum at 1:00.

The Clyde Hutchinson Mansion built in 1903 though moved shortly to the Sonnencroft Castle on the east side of town. Diane Hutchison Parker, granddaughter of Clyde, will be the hostess here with other members of the family.   Diane has just written a new book “Daddy’s Ledger” on the Hutchison family and Fairmont from 1854 to the present.  The first public book signing will be at the home if you chose to buy this book.

  • High School/College Students -$12.00 with pictured student IDs.
  • For those wishing to take the bus to Pitney Home, there is an additional $7.00 and tickets must be purchased by the 26th.  If less than 10 people sign up for the bus, it will be cancelled and money returned.
