Help Build the Database: WV Sites of Enslavement
The Preservation Alliance of West Virginia is compiling a list of "Sites of Enslavement" to highlight sites in every county as a reminder that slavery existed statewide and to shine light on the stories of enslaved peoples.
The places where enslaved peoples lived, worked, and were laid to rest tell stories of hardship, joy, and resilience. PAWV is working to document these places to memorialize this important facet of West Virginia's history.
