Historic Masonry Workshop
Join us for a 5-day immersive trades workshop, gaining hands on skills and work experience in the high demand field of historic masonry!
The Preservation Alliance of West Virginia, in partnership with the City of Weston, is hosting a week long historic preservation workshop focused on the treatment and repair of historic masonry. Taught by Bob Yapp of the Belvedere School for Hands-On Preservation, the workshop will cover the core tenets of masonry preservation such as mortar sampling and analysis, joint preparation, and repointing. Workshop attendees will receive classroom instruction as well as hands-on masonry experience working on a 19th century building in the heart of Weston's national historic district.
Class size is limited to 12 students with preferential enrollment given to West Virginia residents involved in the constructions trades. Attendees will be charged a $100 registration fee which will go towards supplying all necessary equipment as well as lunch and refreshments.
